1. Who we are

These terms apply when you use Applied Academy (appliedacademy.io) and buy courses from us. The seller of instructor-led courses is Kermit Tech AS, organisation number 927441217, L. P. Wettres vei 5, 1392 Vettre, Norway. Self-paced courses are sold through our online reseller Paddle.com, the merchant of record for those orders: Paddle takes the payment, charges the VAT and issues the invoice and any refund, under its own buyer terms. We remain responsible for the course itself.

support@appliedacademy.io

2. What we sell

  • Self-paced courses: digital courses in our learning platform that you take at your own pace.
  • Instructor-led courses: cohorts on fixed dates, online, in a classroom or both. When the course also has a self-paced version, a seat includes it at no extra charge, from the first day of the cohort until 3 months after the last session.
  • Free courses: the same, at no price.

Each course page shows what the course covers, its format, dates, place and price before you buy.

3. Prices and payment

Prices are in Norwegian kroner (NOK). VAT is added where it applies: 25 % on self-paced courses, while instructor-led teaching is exempt from VAT. The payment page shows the VAT and the total before you pay. There are no other fees.

An instructor-led course is paid on Stripe's secure payment page and a self-paced course in Paddle's secure checkout, by card or another method shown there. A promo code from us can lower the price. Your invoice is in the email that tells you the course is ready, and under Invoices in My learning.

4. How you buy

  • Choose a course and format and press Buy.
  • Sign in. By signing in you accept these terms and confirm that you have read the privacy policy.
  • Pay on the payment page: Stripe for an instructor-led course, Paddle for a self-paced course. A seat in a cohort is held for you for 5 minutes while you pay.

The contract is made when your payment is confirmed, and we confirm it by email. You can hold one booking per course.

5. When your access starts and how long it lasts

  • Self-paced courses open a few minutes after payment, and we email you when the course is ready. You have access for 24 months from the day the whole course is available to you, not from your first visit.
  • Instructor-led courses run on the dates shown. The included self-paced course opens on the first day of the cohort and closes 3 months after the last scheduled session. If we move that session, the end date moves with it.

We show the exact end date before you pay, in the order email and in My courses, and we email you 30 days and 7 days before access ends. Access then ends: there is no automatic renewal or charge. More time is a new purchase.

When access ends, you keep your certificates and badges, and files marked for download that you saved, for your own use.

6. Course updates

While you have access, we keep the course usable within what it promised. Corrections, such as broken links or errors in examples, and small changes, such as new menu names or screenshots, are included.

A major new edition, such as a different platform or a largely new syllabus, may be sold separately. We never remove parts of a course or reduce what you bought, and we never call a fix you are owed a new edition.

7. If we stop selling a course

If we stop selling a course, you keep your access until the end date you were given. If we can no longer provide it at all, we offer you a suitable alternative that you accept, or the remedy the law gives you.

8. If we change or cancel a cohort

Sometimes we must change a cohort's dates, times, place or format. We email you about the change as soon as we can. If the change is significant and does not suit you, you can cancel and get the full price back.

If we cancel a cohort, you always get the full price back, within 14 days, to the payment method you used. If you would rather move to another date, tell us.

9. Your right to cancel

If you buy as a consumer, you can cancel within 14 days of the day you buy, without giving a reason (angrerettloven, the Norwegian Cancellation Act).

A short summary of these rules, and the way to cancel online, is on our cancellation page.

Cancel a purchase

  • Self-paced courses: at checkout a separate box asks whether you want us to start delivering the course before the 14 days end, and you confirm that you then lose the right to cancel once you open the course. If you agree, the right to cancel ends the first time you open the course; until then you can cancel for a full refund. If you did not agree, you keep the full 14 days. We confirm your choice by email.
  • Instructor-led courses: if you cancel within the 14 days and before the cohort starts, you get the full price back. If you asked for the cohort to start within the 14 days and you cancel after it has started, you pay for the part delivered until you told us, and get the rest back.
  • Instructor-led courses after the 14 days: it depends on how long before the first session you tell us. 14 days or more: a full refund. 7 to 13 days: 50 % back, or one free move to another date or to another course at the same or a lower price, when there is room; you choose. Under 7 days or not showing up: no refund, but someone else can take your seat at no cost.
  • Companies: the right to cancel is for consumers only. A company that buys for its staff has no right to cancel; the agreement with the company sets the rules.
  • A faulty course, missing access or a double charge: tell us at any time, and the rules in If something is wrong apply.

These promises add to your rights under the law and never shorten them. Our finance team decides every request and tells you the result.

To cancel, use our cancellation page, or email us a clear statement, for example with the form below. It is enough to send it before the 14 days run out.

Cancel a purchase

We confirm by email that we received your cancellation. We pay you back without undue delay and within 14 days of getting your notice, to the payment method you used unless you agree otherwise, at no cost to you. A refund for a double charge does not affect your access; any other refund ends your access to that course only.

Cancellation form (fill in and send only if you want to cancel):

10. Your account

You sign in with Google or with a code we email you. Keep your email account safe, because it gives access to your account. One account is for one person; do not share it. Give us correct details.

We may suspend an account that breaks these terms. We tell you why first, unless security or the law requires us to act at once.

You can delete your account at any time under Profile settings, Delete my account. We then remove your name, email address, picture and sign-in, end your access to all courses and stop your certificate and badge links working. Orders, invoices and refunds are kept for 5 years, as the Bookkeeping Act requires. Your bookings, progress and attendance are kept only without your name, for statistics. Deleting cannot be undone, so ask for any refund first.

11. Acceptable use

Do not:

  • share your access or course material with others, or copy, sell or publish it,
  • disturb other learners or teachers,
  • try to get around security, or overload or scrape the service,
  • use the share-a-course email to send spam.

12. Course material

The course material belongs to us or to our partners. You get a personal right to use it for your own learning. You may not copy, share, sell, publish or use it to train AI without our written permission. What you make yourself in a course stays yours.

13. Certificates and badges

A self-paced course gives a certificate when you complete it. An instructor-led course gives one after the cohort ends, when you were marked present or late on every day. Each certificate has a number and a link anyone can use to check it. Badges follow the rules shown with each badge.

We may withdraw a certificate that was issued by mistake or gained by cheating.

14. If something is wrong

If a course is not as described or the platform does not work, tell us and we will fix it. If we cannot fix it within a reasonable time, you have the rights the law gives you, such as a lower price or cancelling and getting your money back.

15. Liability

We are responsible for our own mistakes as the law sets out. We are not responsible for loss we could not foresee or control, such as a general internet outage. Nothing in these terms limits your rights as a consumer, or our liability where the law does not allow a limit.

16. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms for future purchases. We publish a change on this page at least 30 days before it applies, and ask you to accept the new version before your next booking. A change never applies to a purchase you have already made.

17. Law and courts

Norwegian law applies, and disputes go to the Norwegian courts. If you are a consumer living in another country, you keep the protection your country's law gives you, and you can bring a case there.

18. Complaints

Email support@appliedacademy.io first. We answer within 5 working days. If we cannot agree, you can get free help from Forbrukerrådet, the Norwegian Consumer Council.
